A big concern for beekeepers in winter is worrying about whether or not their hives will survive the cold winter months. There are several reasons why a hive may not make it to Spring, and many of those are preventable.

Swarming is a natural process that enables honey bees to increase numbers and colonise new areas away from the original colony. Honey bee colonies will begin preparing to raise new queens and swarm usually between mid-April to mid-June, But late swarming can also take place during July and August in certain conditions.

A nucleus colony, or nuc, is essentially a smaller hive, in a smaller box, consisting of bees in all stages of development, as well as food, a laying queen, and enough workers to cover from three to six frames.

We have now have a new apiary site for bizzy bee honey to set up in March 2023. This is quite a large area to place Hives & nucs and also a great area for introducing people who are looking at starting beekeeping.

I went for a 22mm loglap 9 x 6 shed it was built buy local company.  Well i am very pleased with how things went the company came on the morning of february the 19th 2021.

I have decided to build an honey extraction room at the bottom of the garden. because it gets very busy in the house with living and extracting honey can get very messy and clutterd with equipment in the honey season. and my ears take a bit of stick too.
